Florescent.

I heard someone describe you the other day.

They said you "light up a room,"

And I had to stifle a laugh.

I suppose they weren't wrong—

Not necessarily.

You could say the same thing about

Florescent lighting, or a

Dumpster fire, perhaps.

Those would both sufficiently

Light up any space

Though in very different ways.

Sometimes you're nothing but

Harsh and cruel,

Wholly unflattering in every way

And others you're just

A wild untameable wreck

Incapable of much else but destruction.

While sure, one of these is

Cool and bright,

It's also very

Soulless and unyielding—

And while the other is very

Warm and strong,

It's also very

Sweltering and fetid.

So absolutely—

You do light up a room.

But in no way

Is it ever in a positive light.
